“We have a large number of TRUMPF machines in our factory – eight in total now. We have focused on the TRUMPF brand, mainly due to the local support provided by Headland and also the automation side of the technology. We can now totally automate production throughout each process, from when we schedule a job through to completion.
“Our recent purchase of the TRUMPF TruMatic 6000 Punch Laser, enables us to punch, form holes, tap, countersink and free form laser cut contours, previously we couldn’t automate these functions as part of the same process.
“The biggest advantage of the TRUMPF TruMatic 6000 Punch Laser is the pick and place unloading function and Brush Table option which enables scratch free processing. This allows us to handle parts without human intervention, parts that could easily be scratched, can now safely be handled, providing scratch-free processing.
“With this machine we can processes thin sheets with cutting speeds of up to 3,400 mm/min. We can process ferrous and non-ferrous metals, film-coated sheet.
“We have every process covered now, we can laser cut, punch, bend, form, tap and mark all in one single set-up, now all totally automated in the one shop”, says Opie.
Opie Manufacturing includes product manufacturing division and contract manufacturing services, including; laser cutting, bending, form, tap, mark, waterjet cutting, CNC machining, fabrication and installation.
