Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Shogo NAKAMURA) announced a new two-turret two-spindle precision CNC multitasking lathe named WY-100V. With the slogan “Faster than the fastest,” many new technologies to reduce cycle time are implemented in the new machine.

After a considerable interval of seven years since the release of its predecessor, the WY-100II, Nakamura-Tome has developed the WY-100V, aiming to enhance the value-added multitasking capabilities of the machine. To mitigate idle time during operations, they have devised a new technology known as “ChronoCut.” In conjunction with elevated spindle speeds, enhanced milling speeds, and improved torque on the hardware front, they have successfully achieved a 30% reduction in cycle time in an actual machining scenario, as exemplified by the provided sample workpiece. The inclusion of the Y-axis on the upper/lower turret and the incorporation of opposed twin spindles as standard features further contribute to its unparalleled performance. With its augmented processing capabilities and the ability to simultaneously perform left/right and upper/lower machining, rapid production is guaranteed. Notably, substantial software enhancements have been made to minimise idle time, thereby pushing the boundaries of speed like never before.
The new WY-100V is a highly versatile machine that offers multitasking capabilities. This is made possible by equipping both turrets with Y-axis functionality, two spindles, and two turrets. These features contribute to faster cycle times, as simultaneous machining can be achieved using the L/R spindles and upper/lower turrets. Additionally, the WY-100V is compatible with the GR-203 High-Speed (optional), further enhancing its efficiency. New hardware and software solutions have been developed to enhance the accuracy and speed of mass production in the context of multi-turret machines. These advancements aim to reduce cycle time, enabling the production of a larger number of workpieces within the same time frame.
