Colleagues,
As the year comes to a rapid close, I wanted to pause and say thank you to all of you for your ongoing support whilst we have all navigated a period of prolonged economic uncertainty. At Headland, our business remains stable and sound, but we know we must continue to innovate and improve everything we do to continue to earn that privilege, and we know we cannot do it without you.
So now onto the PMI figures…
Great news to see the Australian PMI rose to a six-month high of 49.4 in November 2024, over two points from October. All rates of contraction eased. Optimism increased to the highest it has been since January 2023. Despite the optimism, caution prevails as congestion in the red sea drives up supply costs and delays. Overall the manufacturing industry is showing signs of stabilisation.
This month the PMI declined by 2 points, down to 45.8 in October, down from 47.0 in September. While production, employment and deliveries fell, finished stocks and new orders rose, reaching their highest levels since May 2023.
Helen Stevenson recently joined us as our new CFO/COO. Helen’s role will be to help deliver our strategic vision and operational excellence. Her expertise goes far beyond traditional financial management. She has a proven history of leading comprehensive transformation programs across critical business functions, including Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology. Her strengths in strategic planning, change management, and decisive execution will be pivotal as we continue to evolve and grow.
Aimee Chua is a welcomed addition to our IT team, Aimee joins us with extensive experience in NetSuite administration and NextService support, helping to drive our business process efficiencies.
Amanda Jayasuriya has replaced Upeka in the role of accounts receivable. Amanda will be collaborating with the finance team to support various accounting functions across the business.
Dennis Liu joins our finance team also to help drive financial planning and business optimisation initiatives, providing financial analysis and insights. He will focus on measuring our progress against OKRs, particularly financial performance.
Ben Allgood joins us as an impressive addition to our plastics service engineering team. Ben will be supporting us as the 6th service engineer in this exciting part of our business. He will be specifically focused on our Netstal and KraussMaffei plastics technology and other related industrial machinery.
Recently we had a company-wide Christmas celebration. It was great to see over 70 of our team come together from all parts of Australia and New Zealand. It was terrific to connect on a face-to-face level in a social setting, and celebrate the many achievements of our team whilst building and maintaining strong teamwork and camaraderie!
In closing, I wish all of you a successful end of year, and a safe, enjoyable festive season. Followed by a happy, healthy and prosperous 2025.
Kind Regards,
George Yammouni
