AMW 2025 wrap-up: Key takeaways & highlights from a successful event

Australian Manufacturing Week (AMW) 2025 has officially come to a close, marking another significant milestone in the journey of Australia’s advanced manufacturing sector. Hosted at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and organised by the Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL), this year’s expo was a true celebration of innovation, resilience, and the future of industry.

Spanning 12,000 square metres and featuring more than 400 exhibitors, AMW 2025 brought together the latest in additive manufacturing, robotics, automation, and precision engineering. The event served as a vibrant hub for professionals, manufacturers, suppliers, and innovators, all focused on elevating the capabilities of local manufacturing and driving the sector toward global competitiveness.

The role of manufacturing in Australia’s and New Zealand’s future

Manufacturing remains a critical pillar of the Australian and New Zealand economy — not only as a major employer, with approximately 900,000 Australians working in the sector, but also as a driver of innovation and sustainable economic growth. In the face of evolving global markets and technological shifts, events like AMW play a vital role in reinforcing the importance of investing in smart technologies, workforce skills, and research and development.

Government initiatives such as the Future Made in Australia plan are energising the sector with renewed focus on green technology, digital transformation, and sovereign capability. AMW 2025 echoed this vision throughout the exhibition, presenting a clear path forward for a more resilient, technologically advanced manufacturing industry.

Headland Technology at AMW 2025

For us, AMW 2025 was more than an exhibition — it was a chance to connect with the manufacturing community across Australia and New Zealand, showcase world-class solutions, and share insights on what’s next for the industry.

Our stand welcomed a steady stream of visitors across all four days, with a total of 16,105 attendees recorded throughout the event. Day 3 delivered the highest foot traffic, yet engagement remained consistently strong from start to finish.

It was particularly encouraging to see a broad mix of clients and prospects, with the majority coming from Victoria — a state known for its strong manufacturing heritage and ongoing investment in industrial growth. As always, exhibiting in Victoria proved fruitful, offering an excellent platform to engage with local manufacturers, both large and small.

Unsurprisingly, the greatest interest at our stand centred around CNC machinery, as well as sheet metal and metal fabrication solutions — the very technologies we had on display. These machines remain essential to the modern manufacturing environment, enabling precision, speed, and scalability for businesses across sectors.

We were also proud to host representatives from Vernet Behringer and Faccin at our stand — two distinguished international brands newly added to our expanding portfolio. Their presence allowed visitors to gain firsthand insight into their high-performance sawing, drilling, and metal forming technologies, which are already gaining interest among Australian and New Zealand manufacturers.
