Technical Story: Makino PS Series
Tags:
The current climate of precision metal cutting is a cut throat industry, so premium quality equipment has never been more important.
Makino’s vertical machining centre – the PS series, is a precise, flexible and reliable machining centre, offering you the quality and efficiency expected from Makino.
At Headland, providing our customers with the best machinery, service and support is our number one purpose. That’s why we are proud to exclusively represent the Makino range of machinery in Australia.
Additionally, we provide Australia’s largest network of accredited service engineers. With a total of 25 service engineers and six in house, we offer you the best option for maintaining productivity and extending the lifecycle of your machinery.
It is important to look at machine options with highly flexible processes that provide a solution for sustainable growth – Makino’s PS Series achieves exactly that.
The PS Series, made up of two machining centres, the PS 65 and PS 95 caters to industries such as aerospace, automation, medical, die mould and general machining.
Key features of the PS Series include:
Core cooling of axis ball screws
Large spindle bearings
Efficient chip management system
2 spindle ranges 12 000 rpm and 20 000 rpm
Accuracy and productivity are significantly improved because of these features, making Makino the best option for vertical machining centres.
PS 95 Vertical Machining Center
In line with Makino’s commitment towards reliable and competitive machines, the PS 95’s basic machine design incorporates a heavy cast iron construction for stiffness, rigidity and precision.
The main difference of the PS 95 is its dynamic accuracy by controlling thermal influence in axis motion. Unlike other machines, the 85 mm diameter ball spindle bearings are used to increase rigidity and stability.
The 40 taper spindle (HSK A63) provides a combination of high spindle speeds, making the most of the latest tooling technology and aggressive machining of aluminum parts. At 25 kw, 12 000 rpm and a maximum output of 175 Nm of torque, this combination provides the speed and power needed to control a wide variety of applications in a constantly changing production workshop.
You can guarantee the Makino PS Series will provide you with a no hassle production line, thanks to:
30 tool magazine (or an optional 50 ATC)
Quick tool change time
Outstanding load / unload ergonomics to minimize operator fatigue
Auto lubrication system to insure long term operational integrity
Combine these machine characteristics with:
Operator friendly controls
3.0 mpa through spindle coolant
Six nozzle flood coolant
Work wash coolant and very effective efficient chip management
Twin internal screw chip conveyors as standard;
And you will have all the elements required for competitive production part manufacturing.
